Rotary Club of Sarnia Bluewaterland Presents:
Art in the Park
Mike Weir Park, Bright’s Grove/Sarnia, ON
September 7, 2019
9am to 5pm
Art in the Park was initiated some thirty years ago by a group of dedicated volunteers who were members of the Gallery in the Grove at Wildwood Park. In their first year they started with ten exhibitors. Under the stewardship of the Gallery in the Grove this event grew to nearly 80 exhibitors and became one of the area’s premier community events. Art in the Park is recognized today as one of the most successful art shows in south-western Ontario. When the Gallery in the Grove could not continue with Art in the Park in 2010 the Rotary Club of Sarnia – Bluewaterland entered into an agreement with the Gallery to assume the sponsorship of this major community event.
In recognition of the reputation of Art in the Park, Bluewaterland Rotary is committed to maintaining the high quality of this art show and sale. To this end Rotary’s Art in the Park – Sarnia continues to be a high quality show. All artwork must be original work. There is no resale of other artist’s work. We do not accept commercial reproductions, embellished commercial products, kits or items purchased at trade and/or dealer shows for re-sale. The exhibitors include painters, sculptors, weavers, potters, ceramists, woodcarvers, photographers, metal and stained glass artists, custom jewellery designers, clothing designers and folk art. These artisans represent the best in their respective mediums and have met the high standards set out for participation in Rotary’s Art in the Park – Sarnia.
In 2011 Bluewaterland Rotary initiated a number of improvements to Art in the Park including a major change in venue when the event was moved to Mike Weir Park in Brights Grove. This park provides a much larger area for vendors in a beautiful treed setting with ample onsite parking and added space for new activities. This site provides room to grow the over the next several years. As well the club already has ties to Mike Weir Park. The Rotary Club of Sarnia – Bluewaterland donated and maintains the children’s playground equipment for this park as well as four other Sarnia parks.
Approximately 4000 visitors attended last year’s event, checked out the Artisans show, stayed for lunch and enjoyed the ambiance of this beautiful treed park set on the shores of Bluewaterland’s Lake Huron.
