Lambton College will host their 10th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser to help end hunger in the Sarnia-Lambton community.
For the cost of $25, guests can enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread, served in a pottery bowl of their choice to take home. More than 400 bowls have been handcrafted for the event in the College’s on-site pottery studio by Lambton College students and staff, and members of the Sarnia-Lambton Potters Guild.
Local celebrities have also tried their hand at bowl-making, and their creative attempts will be available for purchase during the event by donation. A variety of local artists have also donated pieces that will be raffled off, while a jazz ensemble from Great Lakes Secondary School will be providing the musical entertainment.
The fundraiser will take place at the Lambton College Event Centre with two seatings available at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Inn of the Good Shepherd, Lambton College’s Counselling Department, or online at theinnsarnia.ca. Seats are limited, so advanced purchase is encouraged.
Last year, the event raised $9,000 and to date, Empty Bowls has raised over $75,000 for the Inn of the Good Shepherd and the College’s campus Food Bank. Generous support and donations from local businesses and the community ensure that 99 per cent of the funds raised from this event go directly to fighting hunger.
